Mental Health Counselling for  Veterans and their familes

The Poppy Practice CIC offers Mental Health counselling where it's most needed. We run a number of programmes across the UK with BACP and BABCP accredited counsellers who provide the services free to veterans and their families, and who are funded by donations and awards to The Poppy Practice CIC. We check the qualifications of all counsellors and their additional professional requirements to operate. Each counsellor must also successfully complete our own accreditation using the NHS GP  training which we’ve enhanced further to fit our audience.  You can request access by the following process:

  • Select a Mental Health Counsellor in your area listed in our counsellor directory - or contact us with a recommendation
  • Have a quick triage call with The Poppy Practice CIC and share your NRN for veteran funding access
  • The Poppy Practice CIC and the Counsellor will agree start dates with you
  • Your first session is booked, normally within 1 week and you have 6 sessions plus a review
  • All the work undertaken between you and the Counsellor is Private & Confidential and not made public to ourselves.
  • Eligible to all veterans using the Armed Forces Covenant definition 'who have seen duty in legally defined military operations'

Join our Counsellor Network

We are looking for accredited counsellors under BACP and BABCP to join our network supporting our military veteran community. Further training and accreditation with The Poppy Practice CIC will be supplied to help you understand veteran issues and ensure you are talking a similar language. This training was originally designed by the medical lead for GPs and to this we have added further military insights.

All veterans you agree to support will be fully funded by ourselves for 6 sesssions.
